$\"diegoferreira021_600\"$ <\/a>Este viernes el venezolano Diego Ferreira viajar\u00e1 a Escocia para tomar parte durante cinco d\u00edas en la primera etapa de la formaci\u00f3n de Instituto de J\u00f3venes Pilotos de Excelencia Acad\u00e9mica la FIA, programa comenzar\u00e1 el domingo en la Universidad de Edimburgo.<\/p>\n

Diego Ferreira, de 19 a\u00f1os de edad, subcampe\u00f3n 2013 de la serie Pro Mazda de los Estados Unidos, se reunir\u00e1 con una decena de prospectos de los distintos continentes, los que recibir\u00e1n instrucci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica y f\u00edsica dirigida por los especialistas designados por la Federaci\u00f3n Internacional de Automovilismo.<\/p>\n

El arag\u00fce\u00f1o Ferreira se adjudic\u00f3 el derecho de participar en el programa de capacitaci\u00f3n de la FIA al imponerse el pasado mes de octubre en la selecci\u00f3n regional que se realiz\u00f3 en M\u00e9xico, pruebas t\u00e9cnicas y f\u00edsicas en las que super\u00f3 a una docena de pilotos del continente americano.<\/p>\n

Los j\u00f3venes valores enfrentar\u00e1n condiciones extremas en su estad\u00eda en tierras escocesas, porque en los entrenamientos al aire libre tendr\u00e1n que hacer frente a registros cercanos a los cero grados cent\u00edgrados, mientras en la labor que desarrollar\u00e1n dentro del recinto de la universidad, soportar\u00e1n temperaturas cercanas a los 40 grados cent\u00edgrados con mucha humedad, rutinas que fueron planificadas con la supervisi\u00f3n de Elite Sports Performance.<\/p>\n

Adicionalmente al trabajo f\u00edsico, cada volante recibir\u00e1 clases orientadas dentro de un programa espec\u00edfico relevante a su evoluci\u00f3n dentro de los deportes a motor, en el que se har\u00e1 \u00e9nfasis en el aspecto sicol\u00f3gico, de nutrici\u00f3n y manejo de los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n. Cada participante comenzar\u00e1 a trabajar en un programa individual de desarrollo de sus carreras el cual ser\u00e1 monitoreado por la Academia.<\/p>\n

Esta primera semana de actividad en Escocia ser\u00e1 encabezada por el especialista en fisiolog\u00eda, Dr. Tony Turner, as\u00ed como el sic\u00f3logo Hugh Richards, ambos miembros del Centro de Ciencia y Desarrollo Humano de la Universidad de Edimburgo. De igual manera, los responsables deportivos de la Academia, el ex piloto de F1 y actual corredor oficial de Toyota en el FIA WEC, Alex Wurz, junto a Robert Reid, ser\u00e1n los encargados de guiar a los nuevos reclutas a lo largo de las distintas sesiones.<\/p>\n

FITNESS FIRST FOR NEW ACADEMY DRIVERS<\/strong>
\nAcademy recruits to hit the ground running with fitness and sport science workshop<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 10 drivers selected for the 2013\/14 FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy will begin their first workshop with a focus on sport science, fitness training and education at the University of Edinburgh on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Delivered in partnership with Elite Sports Performance, each element in this workshop is designed to ensure that the building blocks are put in place for the drivers’ ongoing development throughout their time in the Academy.<\/p>\n

Fitness testing will involve an extension of the field-based tests carried out at the selection events and will be used to tailor training programmes to each of the 10 drivers’ individual needs.<\/p>\n

The drivers will face both temperature extremes; training outside in December in Scotland means temperatures close to zero, while the university’s heat chamber offers 40 degrees and high humidity. This will involve the drivers exercising in the heat and then attempting to complete some mental tasks when they are hot and dehydrated. It will emphasise the importance of maintaining hydration in an event and trying to cool down at every opportunity.<\/p>\n

In addition to the physical work, there will be further classroom-based tasks specifically relevant for drivers in motor sport, looking at sport psychology, nutrition and media. Each driver will start to work on an individual career development programme that will be revisited throughout the Academy.<\/p>\n

This first workshop will be led by physiologist Dr Tony Turner and psychologist Hugh Richards from Human Performance Science at Edinburgh University.<\/p>\n

Turner said: \u00abThis is a great opportunity for us to lay some of the important foundations for the programme ahead, as well as the rest of the drivers’ careers, building on what they have already learnt at the successful regional training and selection events. The drivers will be pushed hard both physically and mentally, as would be expected in the high performance motor sport environment. There will be a lot of ‘hands-on’ work with the drivers learning about the physical and mental demands of motor sport through experience, followed by development of individual take-home strategies that they can start implementing straight away.\u00bb<\/p>\n

Academy Performance Managers Alex Wurz and Robert Reid will both be on hand to guide the new recruits through all the sessions. This being the opening workshop in the programme, the drivers will get their first insight into the high level of training expected of them throughout the workshops and during their careers.<\/p>\n
